Who will be speaking at the 4th Annual Counter IEDs?

A full-spectrum approach to increase force protection and save lives

The IED threat continues to grow…

In the increasing complexity and asymmetric nature of current operations, Improvised Explosive Devices remain the single biggest threat our forces face in theatre. Defence IQ’s 4th Annual Counter IEDs conference will follow the structure outlined by JIEDDO to provide a full-spectrum approach to tackling IEDs.

From a solution provider’s perspective the significance of counter IED technology cannot be ignored and remains among the top priorities of any military involved in operations in Afghanistan. The unrelenting threat has resulted in militaries investing in prevention, prediction and detection alongside survivability and protective systems. With JIEDDO alone spending in excess of $14 Billion on CIED technologies since the start of current operations, there is a significant military budget dedicated to Counter IED solutions.

Which issues affecting the military’s ability to counter the IED threat at all levels will the 4th Annual Counter IEDs look to answer?

  • From operational experience at the tactical level, where do the capability gaps exist and what technology solutions are militaries actively seeking to better equip forces in defeating and neutralising the IED threat in theatre?
  • What are the latest technologies and TTPs including jammers, ground penetrating radars and EOD robots to better equip forces in detecting and neutralising the IED threat in theatre?
  • How can persistent surveillance and intelligence systems enable us to better share information to co-ordinate a coherent joint response to attack the network?
  • What is required for persistent surveillance to enable the forces to detect and prevent the explosion?
  • How should training programmes be tailored to ensure that task forces and EOD teams are adequately prepared to increase force protection?
  • How are domestic and international state and non-state actors tackling the IED threat to civilians outside of theatre and how their requirements differ from militaries?
